Ahead of the 9 September Westminster Hall Debate on ‘Funding for West Midlands Police’ Police and Crime Commissioner David Jamieson said,
“It very welcome that MPs from across the political spectrum understand that funding for West Midlands Police is a major issue that needs to be debated in parliament.
“According to the independent National Audit Office the West Midlands has so far been hit nearly twice as hard as anywhere else in the country and is set for further cuts in the years to come.
“If the government goes ahead with the cuts that they have talked about and the changes to how they divide police funding, West Midlands Police will be hit well above the 2,500 job losses that have already been announced.
“The region needs fair funding for the police. I hope the government will take note of what MPs from across the West Midlands have got to say on this crucial issue.”
