Following the recent announcement by Chris Sims, Chief Constable of West Midlands Police that he will be standing down from the role in early 2016, the search for the next Chief Constable has begun.
Following discussions with the public, Police and Crime Commissioner David Jamieson has made the decision to accelerate the process of appointing a new Chief Constable. The post will now be advertised today (31 July 2015).
West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner David Jamieson said,
“After discussions with the public I have accelerated the process and the Chief Constable post will be advertised today (31 July).
“This is an incredibly important time for West Midlands Police and I am keen to make sure that the handover period is as long as possible, between the current Chief Constable and the next.”
