West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner David Jamieson today welcomed David Thompson into his new role as Chief Constable of West Midlands Police.
Today marks the start of Mr Thompson’s post as the most senior police officer in the region.
He was appointed to the role following a rigorous selection process by the Commissioner, including consultation with members of the public, a two-day assessment and questions from the PCC’s Youth Commissioners and Citizens’ Panel.
West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner David Jamieson said: “David Thompson has been a wonderful Deputy Chief Constable and I am delighted to now see him in the top post.
“David is an exemplary police officer and I am sure he will make every success of his new role and making the West Midlands an even safer place to live and work.”
