The West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner has opened his 2018/19 Victims’ Fund and is urging organisations that support victims of crime to apply to him for funding.
The PCC, David Jamieson, will award funding for groups supporting victims of crimes such as, domestic violence, sexual abuse, volume crime, child sexual exploitation, female genital mutilation, forced marriage and honour based violence, hate crime, fatal road traffic collisions and modern slavery.
Services commissioned by the PCC will form part of a varied network of support that exists for victims across the West Midlands, funded by other groups and through charitable donations.
This year’s Victims’ Fund has £200,000 available to help people traumatised by criminal activity. Individual funding of up to £20,000 is available for each voluntary or community organisation that helps people to cope and recover. Groups can apply on their own or they can join together to form a partnership.
David Jamieson said: “Supporting victims of crime is one of my top priorities as PCC.
“This funding has been making a real difference to people’s lives since I introduced it in 2014 and I’m delighted to say it will continue to do so.
“I would urge people to get their applications in.”
The deadline for applications is 5pm on 18th March 2019.
