Officers are using Section 60 powers in the town centre area of Sutton Coldfield.
The order which started this afternoon at 12:45:00 hours, covers Sutton Coldfield Town Centre, and neighbouring streets, giving the police a power to stop and search people we suspect may to be involved in violence, without the need to have reasonable grounds.
The Section 60 is in place after a number of incidents of violence which have included the use of knives and hammers.
