Reason for Authority (Brief Summary for Publication) |
In the last few weeks, there have been a number of serious violent incidents in and around the Wyrley Birch Estate, Kingstanding. These offences have involved the use of knives, machetes and suspected firearms. In addition to this, intelligence suggests that a Block Party, with known OCG nominals attending, will take place in Erdington on Saturday 16th June 2022 at Faulkners Farm Drive, Erdington. It is suggested that OCG nominals will attend the location with firearms and weapons. Previous such parties in Erdington have attracted hundreds of attendees, with the most recent large party (2019) seeing a firearms discharge. Birmingham West and Birmingham East have had a number of recent violent offences involving weapons, knives and firearms incidents, therefore a section 60 is required to maximise opportunities to prevent serious harm. The location is the Wyrley Birch Area in Kingstanding and the outskirts as well as all arterial routes to the location, to prevent serious injury and disorder on the Estate. There was intelligence that a Block party would take place on 1st July but this did not take place and intelligence suggests that it was postponed to either the 15th or 16th July. |
