A new police community hub is to open in Caldmore, allowing police to have a base right in the heart of the community.
The new hub will be based inside the offices at Caldmoreaccord Housing Association in Caldmore Green and will have its own separate access within the building. It will act as a base for the patrolling officers to return to, as well as a meeting point for the public when officers are available.
Lakhbir Jaspal, Deputy Group Chief Executive, at The Accord Group will officially hand over the keys to the new hub to Chief Superintendent David Sturman and Police and Crime Commissioner’s board member for Walsall Mohammad Nazir, on Friday 24 October, at 14.00, in a ceremony which the whole community, including the local traders in the area, are invited to.
Lakhbir Jaspal, Deputy Group Chief Executive, the Accord Group, said; “It’s fantastic for the local community to have this new hub right at its heart, in our offices on Caldmore Green where we have been based for over 30 years.
“I am sure it will provide a great service for our residents and the wider public who will benefit from having a truly accessible police presence on our streets.”
The Police and Crime Commissioner’s board member for Walsall Mohammad Nazir said: “This is a project is a great example of partnership working to improve the services we offer to the community. The satellite hub will give people reassurance that their local officers are working from a place that is nearby and easily accessible.
“On behalf of the Police and Crime Commissioner, I would like to offer my thanks to Caldmoreaccord and Walsall Police for working together to make this possible.”
Chief Superintendent David Sturman, said: “It’s great to see the opening of a new local hub for officers in the heart of Caldmore. It’s important for us to retain a base within the community, so I’m really grateful to Caldmoreaccord for assisting us with this opportunity at no extra cost to the force.
“I know that the local officers are equally appreciative and are looking forward to working alongside Caldmoreaccord in the future.”
Ali Mahomood, Chairman of Caldmore Traders Association said: “We’re really delighted to see a police base back in Caldmore Village. It means we can all step up our efforts to reclaim our green and make Caldmore Village a vibrant and dynamic place to live, work and shop”
