The Police and Crime Commissioner, Simon Foster, said: “On the 50th anniversary of the Birmingham pub bombings my thoughts are with the victims and their surviving family members.
“The abhorrent and brutal killing of 21 innocent people and injuring of a further 220 innocent people was at the time and continues to this day, to have been deeply and profoundly shocking.
“The victims and their surviving family members are entitled to truth and justice, despite the five decades that have past.
“In the event any further evidence emerges, I expect West Midlands Police to investigate and to do all that is within its power, to ensure truth and justice for the victims and surviving family members.”
