Police and Crime Commissioner Simon Foster was among those who marked Armistice Day at a service at West Midlands Police headquarters.
The PCC joined the Chief Constable and others who gathered for a short service and observed a two minute silence at Lloyd House, Birmingham.
He placed a wreath of poppies at the force roll of honour, to remember those lost in the line of duty, during the service earlier today.
Police and Crime Commissioner Simon Foster said: “It was an honour to mark Armistice Day by attending the Force service at Lloyd House.
“As we paused for the two minutes silence, we were able to reflect on the courage and sacrifice of so many over the generations.
“We will remember them.”
It came as the nation fell silent to pay respect to those who have given their lives in war. It is held at 11am on November 11 – the time and date when the armistice in World War One came into effect.
The service was led by the force Lead Chaplain Khadija Sulamain along with Diversity and Inclusion Manager Inspector Aviv Glaser.
A bugler playing the Last Post marked the start of the ceremony in poignant fashion before the two minute silence was held.
