The Assistant West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner, Dr Lynnette Kelly, has formally opened TSB’s new Financial Crime Operations unit in Sheldon, Birmingham, in a grand opening event.
The inauguration on Friday 16 February 2018 saw Dr Kelly attend a ribbon cutting ceremony at TSB’s office at Coventry Road, where around 600 TSB Partners provide operational support for the challenger bank. This includes over 60 TSB Partners in the recently-opened Financial Crime Operations team who are responsible for protecting TSB and its customers from different types of financial crime including money laundering, terrorist financing, bribery and corruption.
The grand opening also featured a meet and greet of the new team, giving the Assistant Commissioner a chance to talk to the TSB Partners directly about their roles, as well as a celebratory lunch.
Padraig Carton, Customer Service Operations Director at TSB says: “It’s fantastic to open the new Financial Crime unit in Sheldon, reaffirming our commitment to the local community. TSB is a great place to work and there’s a strong partnership culture in everything we do.
“The creation of the new team means TSB can bring even better banking to communities across the UK and provide fulfilling careers to more local people – helping the community in Birmingham to thrive.
“I would also like to thank Dr Kelly from the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner for paying us a visit on such a special day for us. We really appreciate the time she has taken to share with us her experiences of protecting our communities from crime.”
Dr Lynnette Kelly, Assistant West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner, said: “It is a pleasure to be here to open TSB’s new Financial Crime Unit. Unfortunately this sort of crime is on the increase, which is why I am pleased to see TSB is playing their part to safeguard their customers.
“It is important for agencies to work together when it comes to tackling this sort of crime and banks can often be the first line of defence against financial crime.
“TSB West Midlands is doing an excellent thing by creating jobs and supporting the local economy. I hope that their work here is able to change the way that we tackle financial crime and keep the public safe.”
