Police and Crime Commissioner David Jamieson recently awarded a Community Initiatives Fund grant of £750 to St Oswald’s Church in Tile Hill, Coventry and went along to see how the money was being put to good use in the community.
Funding for the project was provided to improve and encourage good relationships between the police and the local community.
As well as attending the community event the Police and Crime Commissioner presented awards to local local primary schoolchildren.
Police and Crime Commissioner David Jamieson said,
“I was delighted to present the awards and recognise the efforts of so many talented young people.
“St Oswald’s Church does brilliant work with their local community. That is why I am so pleased to support the work that they do through my Community Initiatives Fund.
“My Community Initiatives Fund provides small grants of up to £750 to help projects that encourage community contact with local neighbourhood officers, therefore increasing trust and confidence while reducing crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour.”
Rev Nick Leggett, from St Oswald’s Church said,
“This was an ideal opportunity for the community to see the police in a relaxed and fun way and, of course, to eat lots of pancakes!”
