The Police and Crime Commissioner, David Jamieson, recently helped launch West Midlands Police’s “Get Safe Online” event.
The two day event saw online experts conducting sessions and workshops with school children, businesses and those aged over 65 in order to help them understand the dangers of the internet and how best to avoid them.
The Commissioner was joined at the event by the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Raymond Hassall, and Assistant Chief Constable, Carl Foulkes.
Following the event, the Commissioner expressed the need for increased awareness online by saying: “The internet is a great resource but there are those out there that are seek to use it to harmfully exploit others.
“As a result I’m really pleased to see events like these taking place here in the West Midlands and I was delighted to see children from Our Lady and St. Rose of Lima making the most of the day.”
